Auditioning for the 2009-2010 Season
We have conducted our Fall Auditions, but still have openings in several
sections.
ANYONE interested in auditioning needs to contact
Kristina Phillips in order to schedule an audition time.

2009-2010 Audition Requirements
Strings, Brass, Woodwind
A Major, E-flat Major & G melodic minor scales (up and down) - 2 octaves.
Percussion
Snare drum - Double stroke roll and orchestral roll - slow
to fast to slow
Timpani - Demonstrate tuning capabilities; single stroke roll
Xylophone - D Major scale - up and down - 2 octaves.
Accessory instruments - Demonstrate techniques on triangle,
tambourine, bass drum, crash cymbals, suspended cymbal
Prepared piece of your choice:
This can be a solo, etude, or music you have worked on with your
high school ensemble. Select music that you believe would best represent
your musical abilities.
Sight reading:
Chosen by conductor.

and sight-reading.

PERCUSSION:
*All percussionists auditioning will be required to demonstrate ability on Timpani,
Xylophone and Snare Drum.
Timpani:
Demonstrate ability to tune to given pitch in the audition.
Demonstrate single-stroke roll on timpani.
Xylophone:
D Major 2 octave
C melodic minor 2 octave
Demonstrate single-stroke roll on bells.
Snare Drum:
Double-stroke roll and orchestral roll – slow to fast to slow
Prepared piece of your choice:
This can be a solo or etude you have worked on by yourself or with a teacher.
