Auditioning for the 2010-2011 Season
We are conducting auditions on September 11th. After this time, students
will have to contact a director for a separate audition.
ANYONE interested in auditioning needs to contact
Kristina Phillips in order to schedule their audition time.

2010-2011 Audition Requirements
Strings, Brass, Woodwind
A Major, E-flat Major & G melodic minor scales (up and down) - 2 octaves.
Percussion
Snare drum - Double stroke roll and orchestral roll - slow
to fast to slow
Timpani - Demonstrate tuning capabilities; single stroke roll
Xylophone - D Major scale - up and down - 2 octaves.
Accessory instruments - Demonstrate techniques on triangle,
tambourine, bass drum, crash cymbals, suspended cymbal
Prepared piece of your choice:
This can be a solo, etude, or music you have worked on with your
high school ensemble. Select music that you believe would best represent
your musical abilities.
Sight reading:
Chosen by conductor.

Xylophone and Snare Drum.
Timpani:
Demonstrate ability to tune to given pitch in the audition.
Demonstrate single-stroke roll on timpani.
Xylophone:
D Major 2 octave
C melodic minor 2 octave
Demonstrate single-stroke roll on bells.
Snare Drum:
Double-stroke roll and orchestral roll – slow to fast to slow
Prepared piece of your choice:
This can be a solo or etude you have worked on by yourself or with a teacher.
Select music that you believe would best represent your musical abilities.
